Shakespeare in the soggy park

It rained!!! The ground was soggy.. even with water resistant sheets and mats.. but it was so awesome.. the poor cast had to run around the criss-crossing boardwalks .. it was a 360 degree stage.. quite well put together and fun...the company was great too.. Jameson and Lynn came.. so good to see them, and she is so big now.. baby coming in 3 months. The funniest thing is that they had this big SUV... and they swapped it for a 2 door sportscar 2 months before they knew they were having the baby!

I was just thinking that it just has been too long... since I have been in a relationship. A real, loving, caring relationship. Probably in the US.. so long ago... or maybe even london. Do I even remember what it was like?

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich

Hehe.. Daniel came over and made peanut butter and jam sandwiches for me yesterday for lunch... how nice is that! And he does a good PBJ... "covered all the bread".. oh with multigrain bread that was good too. Thank you!!

Had a chat with Kevin's brother yesterday. He seemed sad.. but think he dealing with it quite well.

Now I am getting antsy about my BMRC grant.. I have to get it this time. No questions.. so I am sending it to the OLS review board to see what they think before I send it in. I hope that will give it a better chance.. at least someone will comment on it before it goes out.

Georgette... we are one month away and have so much left to do. H, the understudy for the male lead has dropped out, so E will have to do it all. I know he can do it.. but as long as he doesn't push too hard, keep his voice intact for all the 4 shows.. come and watch!! Its at the esplanade recital studio on June 9 and 10.. can buy tickets at www.sistic.com.sg (just search for georgette or five foot broadway). I'm in the ensemble, but also understudying the female lead.. but mine's a just-in-case scenario.. it'll be fun!

Shakespeare in the Park this weekend.. Midsummer's night dream at fort canning. So fun! We're going to go about 5 I think and chope our place, and have a picnic and wine and chill out.. great!

Lots of things to do

i just realized I have so many things to do, with so little time.. here's my list, and I will check them off once I have done them, but.. how long will that take??

1. Write preliminary grant for SIgN (nearly done)

2. Write grant for BMRC.. still WIP.. have one month

3. WRite IRB for CombiX project... won't get the money until I write this.. have to also pass the risk assessment to florence.. argh.

4. Plan to write Susam Komen Breast cancer grant for August...

5. Liase with Pathology to get breast tissues for immunohisto...

6. Write the allergy paper.. where to submit to??

7. Rewrite the basophil paper... this is getting frustrating

8. Resubmit the metastasis paper... where?

9. Rewrite the Dox paper with shazib, and write the RSV paper...

10. Actively try to recruit a research assistant to replace fatimah.. and more graduate students!!!

Ok.. see.. thats just work. What about non work stuff??

1. Learn my lines for Georgette chorus... (and also Georgette lead, as I am the understudy... I don't know if I am getting a performance date. . its a "just in case" thing.. but its an experience nonetheless. The cast are ok.. never be as good as Roses, with that chemistry that we all felt.. the rehearsals here are quite structured.. not sure if we really bond or not.. need to do some games to get us more in tune (not necessarily musically) with each other, I think.

2. Now that we have rostered conducting responsibilities, I feel somewhat less pressured during choir. Now I'm going to conduct one mass a month, + the rehearsal before, so thats much better...

3. Mid summers night dream on May 12.. looking forward to that.. going with SDG people and inviting Daphne, Daniel, Kwaisum and one more??? Don't remember who I asked.. oops. Have to confirm with them again...

4. Dollhouse with Joyce and Beatrice sometime soon.

5. Haven't wakeboarded in a while! Maybe cos its the hair... the mess of it.. or also lack of Kaki but I think vincent was going to arrange for me to train with him for a while ... too early.. sigh.. but its a good workout.

6. Shall I go to watch Phantom?? I can bring mom... and can ask dan too..

7.. Oh ya mom asked me to help out with the music for RCIA.. I have to find an accompanist guitarist.. oh I know who I am going to ask.. I'm going to ask Les.. see if he'll help.. =)

8. what about NUS choir next semester???

thats all I can think about for now.. the work part seems stressful... time manage... time manage.. now I have written it all down.. I have to do it right??? sigh.

Goodbye Kevin Mcklein

A wonderful guy has passed away.

Kevin Mcklein.

He was an orthopedic surgeon in Indonesia, half australian/half american guy that I met online somewhere somehow. I don't quite remember now...we just started chatting about a year ago. He was a philantropist... flew around wherever was needed to help as a doctor... first the tsunami, then the flood, then the ferry disaster... he caught some virus, got fever of unknown origin (FUO), and was in and out of a coma for months. I did chat with him.. on the 10th of April.. and he was talking funny talk.. saying that he saw me everyday when he was in the coma, and he did PCR with me (?) yeah, I don't know about that.. we talk about science.. scientist's life, you see! Also that he saw the "light" and spoke to his deceased parents too.. that I was the one... but now was not the right time... and then he said " I will come to you, once I have recovered... I promise you that... " It was such a strange conversation.

Now he's gone. His brother told me that he died a few days ago. His msn came online today, you see.. and I started the chat... and found out it was his brother. He asked me what my relationship with Kevin was.. I didn't know what to say.. so I said good friend... what else can I be? I've never met him... but apparantly Kevin told him that he was planning to go to singapore to propose to some chinese girl.. so he asked me if i was from singapore, if i was chinese... Yeah. Life. I felt so sad.

But mom thinks this is all a farce. Its too drama to be real. But if it is, its really tragic. Yes, it is. Give him the benefit of the doubt, and believe it. Remember him.
